Well, that was one heck of a shindig!  Before going further let me thank all of those who travelled far and wide to join us.  We loved havin’ y’all here in Katy.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to travel deep into the heart of Texas.  When we began the planning, we could not have hoped for such a great event.  From the weather to the tech sessions to the driving tours it was a blast!

I also want to take the opportunity to thank all of the volunteers from the Houston MG Car Club and the North American MGB Register. It is their hard work and dedication that made the event a success. I have worked on a lot of events over the years but because of the tremendous support this was one of the most enjoyable.

We had over 250 people in attendance, registering over 150 cars, with 135 making it to Wednesday's Show Field.  The banquet was sold out and all of the driving events were a hit.

And I can’t express enough how grateful we are to the City of Katy.  Thank YOU!

There aren't enough words to describe what a great week it was, so the best way to enjoy MG2024 is through pictures (we all know they are worth a 1000 words).  So here you go!

On March 16th a caravan of Houston MG Car Club members headed out for a 100 mile drive to celebrate 100 years of the MG Car Club. 

It was a spirited drive with lots of twists and turns through the northwestern Houston countryside.  From the smiles on everyone's faces it was clear that drivers and navigators alike had a great time. 

A little over halfway through the drive we stopped at the Yankee Tavern & Grill for a bit to eat and quench our thirst.

I am not sure how our fearless leader, Rob Ficalora, arranged it but the threatening weather held off and we all stayed dry.  Good thing to because a couple brave souls left their hoods at home. 

We ended the day with refreshments at Dave Griffith's garage,  Thanks Dave!!!  

This drive was so well enjoyed that we have added it to the club's "Favorite Roads" page under Resources.  If you are looking for a great way to spend a day with your MG check out this page as it has several great roads for your enjoyment.

If you didn't participate in the Autocross on Saturday, March 23rd, you missed out on one of the most fun activities we can do in our cars!  This event is done jointly with the Triumph club -- and it's a bit of a competition.   The results are in.  While the Triumph club beat us (but only by 0.3 seconds), those results don't do justice to how much fun this event is.  If you've never done an autocross, don't let it intimidate you.  We have plenty of folks each year who are doing it for the 1st time so you won't be alone.  And, you will definitely have fun!

The other day I came across this video of the 7 Best Motorcycle Roads in Texas.  Now we don’t drive motorcycles but our LBC’s enjoy the same roads.  Even better 5 of the 7 roads are within a reasonable distance for a day or weekend trip from Houston.  One originates out of Montgomery making it very easy to do in a day.

Here is the first update of our 2024 Safety Fast Driver Award...

It was cloudy, cold and blustery outside but warm, well as warm as an MG can get, inside our cars.  The Houston MG Car Club made a great appearance in this year's Katy Rodeo Parade.  We had 9 cars and with the cool weather all made it to the end of the parade route with no overheating!  Although, I suspect we did put a bit of wear on our clutches.

We even had our own princesses, Jay Schwartz grandaughters, join us in the parade.

We had a few brave souls who drove top down.

Somehow we let a lesser car slip in with us.  Not everyone can be blessed to drive an MG.

The Club is off to a running start for what is sure to be a fantastic 2024, filled with many driving events, social activities and tech sessions.  

We had a great turnout for our January meeting where we caught up with a couple of people to give them their 2023 awards and also the announcement of the 2024 door prize - A Houston MG Car Club wine cooler.  

This past weekend the club member's visited the Houston Art Car Museum, a real treat for car buffs and art fanatics.  The museum has a rotating art display, this quarter it featured mosaics by Ann Harithas, the museum's founder.  For many year's Ann was a strong supporter of Houston artists and the Art Car Parade.  Along with her art, there were three cars on display that coordinated with the theme of her work. 

The docent, Gary, did an amazing job telling us all about the cars, Ann and her work.  Following the Art Car Museum a few of us made the trip over to St. Arnold's Brewery were there are several parade ready art cars on display.
